(1883-1966) Сэнгер, МаргаретОбщественный деятель, активная участница феминистского движения. Работала медсестрой в трущобах г. Нью-Йорка. Выступала за применение противозачаточных средств и легализацию абортов. В 1916 основала в г. Нью-Йорке первую в стране клинику по производству абортов, за что подвергалась арестам. В 1917 создала и возглавила Национальную лигу контроля над рождаемостью [National Birth Control League]. В 1927 организовала первую Всемирную конференцию по вопросам народонаселения [World Population Conference]. С 1953 первый президент Международной федерации планирования семьи [International Planned Parenthood Federation].
